Jessica Kaylor, MMS, PA-C, IFMCP
Board-Certified Dermatology & Functional Medicine Provider
Jessica Kaylor is a nationally recognized dermatology and functional medicine provider and the only practicing dermatology clinician in the New Jersey and New York City area certified by the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM). With more than 15 years of clinical experience, Jessica brings a rare combination of advanced medical dermatology, aesthetic expertise, and root-cause functional medicine to her patients at The Functional Derm.
Jessica began her dermatology career in 2010 and quickly became known for her technical skill, clinical judgment, and patient-centered approach. In 2012, she began seeing patients in Hoboken, New Jersey at Schweiger Dermatology, where she became Hoboken’s first cosmetic injector, practicing years before the modern MedSpa landscape emerged. Her experience spans a full spectrum of cosmetic and medical dermatology, including neurotoxins, dermal fillers, biostimulatory injectables, and an extensive array of laser and energy-based technologies.
Despite her success in traditional dermatology, Jessica’s professional path took a pivotal turn following her own personal health challenges. After navigating autoimmune disease, hormone imbalances, gut dysfunction, and complex family health issues involving mold exposure and detoxification protocols, she recognized that many chronic skin conditions cannot be fully resolved by topical treatments or prescriptions alone. This experience led her to pursue advanced training in Functional Medicine, a science-based, systems-biology approach that seeks to identify and treat the root causes of disease.
Jessica is a Certified Practitioner with the Institute for Functional Medicine (IFMCP)—the only integrative medicine training program officially recognized by the American Medical Association (AMA) for licensed medical professionals. She integrates functional medicine principles seamlessly into her dermatology practice, addressing the interconnected roles of nutrition, gut health, hormones, inflammation, stress, sleep, movement, and environmental exposures in skin health and overall longevity.
At The Functional Derm, Jessica combines the best of conventional dermatology with functional medicine to create highly individualized care plans. She utilizes evidence-based medical therapies when appropriate, while thoughtfully minimizing unnecessary pharmaceuticals and their potential side effects. Her goal is not only to improve skin appearance, but to help patients feel healthier, more vibrant, and more confident—inside and out—so they can fully enjoy their lives.
Jessica is Board Certified by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) and holds medical licenses in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. She is widely respected for her clinical excellence, attention to detail, and compassionate bedside manner. In 2018, she received the American Health Council’s Best in Medicine Award of Excellence, becoming the only dermatology provider recognized in the State of New Jersey that year. She is also a consistent recipient of outstanding patient reviews and professional recognition.
After spending several years in Pittsburgh during the pandemic to be closer to family, Jessica is thrilled to return to New Jersey and NYC metro area and reconnect with the community she has long considered home. Through The Functional Derm, she is proud to offer an innovative, elevated model of dermatologic care—one that prioritizes root causes, long-term health, and natural, refined aesthetic outcomes.
